Kody is officially available for adoption! Kody is an approximately 14-year-old OTTB gelding (age estimated by teeth — we’re still working on reading his lip tattoo to verify his history). This handsome guy has already lived an exciting life and is ready for his next adventure with the right person!
Under saddle, Kody is an absolute pleasure, responsive, athletic, and eager to please. His previous experience as a hunter/jumper shows in his natural ability and enthusiasm for fences. He was last comfortably jumping 2’9”–3’3” and would love to continue in a similar direction with a confident rider.
Kody does well both in the arena and out on the trail, especially when he has a buddy along for company. He’s middle of the herd in turnout and is still learning how to just be a horse after his racing and show careers.
He has great manners for the vet and farrier and generally good ground manners overall. Trailering takes a little extra patience, he’s not naughty, just a bit stubborn at times.
Like many OTTBs, Kody prefers turnout to a stall. Stalls tend to make him anxious, and he tends to crib when confined and left to his own devices. When excited, he also tends to paw, but with consistency and understanding, he settles nicely.
Kody is looking for an experienced and patient partner who can appreciate his heart, talent, and try.
