Meet Mikerty and Lukedrini!
This wonderful pair of Dutch Harness Horses came to us from an Amish family with extensive driving experience. They have been with us for several years and are looking for a home where they can thrive and reach their full potential.
While these boys have many excellent qualities, they have struggled to adjust to the fast-paced nature of the tourism industry and the constant activity of a busy working environment. Because we do not have a dedicated trainer on staff, we feel they would be best suited for an experienced driver who can provide the guidance, consistency, and quieter setting they need to succeed.
Both horses cross-tie, load and haul well, and stand respectfully for the farrier. They are healthy, kind, and willing horses with sweet personalities. Although they can be somewhat anxious during handling, they are calm and relaxed when in a stall or turned out in the field.
These boys have a solid foundation and tremendous potential in the right hands. They would flourish in a calmer environment with an experienced horseperson who can help rebuild their confidence and continue their education. If you’re looking for a pair of gentle, talented horses and have the experience to bring out their best, these two deserve a look.
Mikerty and Lukedrini are currently available through Colonial Williamsburg’s Equine Placement Program. As part of our commitment to the long-term wellbeing of our horses, we thoughtfully seek new homes for horses whose next chapter may be better suited outside of our working carriage and historic interpretation programs. We are committed to finding all of our horses a safe, supportive, and permanent home.
