Altruist: Will Take Charge – Go Jamie Go by Hansen

“Alti” is a striking chrome gelding with unique markings, a cuddly personality, a thoughtful mind, and an exciting future ahead.

After 10 starts on the track — earning 3 wins and 3 thirds — this 6-year-old retired uninjured and ready to take on a new career. Since arriving, he’s been turning heads with his flashy looks and winning hearts with his kind, willing personality.

We’re just getting started with Alti, but even in a few early sessions, he’s shown himself to be incredibly smart and responsive to body cues under saddle. Teaching him has been effortless — he’s the kind of horse that picks things up quickly and wants to please.

Alti is already showing natural potential for dressage, show jumping, and hunter/jumper disciplines, and we’re excited to continue his training and see where he shines brightest.

All of our retired racehorses participate in our equine-assisted interventions and Veterans vocational horsemanship education programs (see heroeshorses.org). We work with each horse on the ground and under saddle (English and Western) before determining their strengths and suitability for various disciplines.
