Mauna Kea Bound “Milo” is a flashy 2020 gelding by Uncaptured out of Midnight Candy (by Midnight Lute). Talk about tall, dark, and handsome!
Milo sold for $67k at auction as a two year old. His racing career included 12 starts, a race record of 2-1-2 and earnings of $95,100. After his last race in June 2024, Milo underwent surgery to have a bone chip removed from his left knee in August 2024. After completing rehab and returning to track life, his racing connections decided it was time to retire him in spring of 2025 when he became sore after breezing to give him the best chance of a new career. Milo had some time to transition to farm life and then began ground and then under saddle training, but due to wear and tear from racing life, Milo told us he would be most happy as a companion horse. He has the talent and looks and could certainly go on to do non-riding work with an experienced handler.

He is good in crossties, enjoys grooming, slow and patient tacking, and is well-behaved for the vet and farrier. Since he is young and large, he can be strong when being handled, but listens well with correction. He loves being outside and could easily spend all day outdoors with proper shelter.
Milo is currently on Succeed, which is helping him gain and maintain his weight and is happy barefoot with no other special maintenance.

While our OTTBs receive some post-race training, all are offered as green prospects and will require an adopter who has experience with retraining off-track Thoroughbreds and/or will be working under the guidance of an experienced professional trainer.
