Cry If I Want To “Bea” is a 2021 lovely bay mare who is ready to begin her new career. If you are looking for your 2026 RRP Thoroughbred Makeover partner, Bea is eligible to receive a $405+ scholarship for the 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover through the 2026 ASPCA Right Horse Scholarship program. Other than race training, she is a fresh start so she will need an adopter with demonstrated experience retraining a green off-track Thoroughbred from start to finish. Bea has had ground training including lunging over poles and also has some desensitization experience. Bea will do best with an adopter who is calm and patient to help her develop confidence as she transitions to a riding career and navigates new experiences.
On the ground – Bea leads well to and from turnout, generally with a chain, and does well being held for the vet and farrier. She does best in crossties that have a wall behind them and tends to wiggle around a bit. She can be sensitive and prefers slow and deliberate movements while grooming and tacking.
In the pasture/stable – Bea is currently turned out with a few other mares. She enjoys the company, but typically minds her own business.
Under saddle – Bea has been started under saddle and is currently working at the walk, trot, and canter. She is very green and would thrive in a calming, structured program led by an experienced trainer.
Background and physical capability – Bea earned $46,284 with 15 starts and a race record of 1-2-4. Her last race was at Oaklawn Park on 01/03/2025. Bea retired with a bone chip in her pastern and completed rehab after successful surgery to remove the chip. This pretty girl is ready for a fresh start!
Care – She goes in front shoes and has not required any special feed/supplements.
