They say you can’t ride pretty—but Breeze proves you absolutely can!
Breeze is a stunning 7-year-old, 15.3-hand registered Paint mare with gorgeous grulla coloring, substantial bone and the kind of presence that makes everyone stop and look. But she is so much more than a pretty face—this mare has already built a résumé most horses twice her age would envy.
Breeze was originally started by a teenager who barrel raced her, rode her bareback and did all the fun things teenagers do with their horses. I purchased her as a four-year-old, and since then, she has experienced just about everything.
She has trail ridden alongside my mules and mule-riding friends—which means she has never known an “easy” trail! Breeze has climbed mountains, navigated large rocks and deep ditches, crossed rivers and confidently handled challenging terrain. She will high-line or stake out and is perfectly comfortable on overnight trail rides.
She has also completed the Dixie National Wagon Train, proving herself around traffic, dump trucks, bridges, mailboxes, barking dogs, crowds, cameras, honking horns and every commotion imaginable.
With that trail foundation, Breeze transitioned beautifully into foxhunting. She is brave, willing and will jump whatever you point her toward. She has hunted with both Chula Homa Hunt and Salt Marsh Hunt and has safely carried my husband, guests with limited experience and even a 72-year-old rider with a death grip on her mouth—and still traveled around kindly.
Breeze has the perfect balance of go and whoa. She moves willingly from a light squeeze but does not rush, run off or constantly need to be held back. She isn’t spooky and has never bucked or offered me anything mean. She backs, side-passes and turns on the haunches. Although she hasn’t spent countless hours doing arena work, she is intelligent, willing and learns exceptionally quickly.
She was leased for a full foxhunting season in South Carolina, then returned to Alabama and spent this summer as a kids’ play-day show horse, ridden by children ages 10–15. She quickly became the barn favorite.
And yes—Breeze is so striking that she was even chosen for a Ralph Lauren photo shoot!
She loves people and has the sweetest personality. Scratch her, and she will gently “scratch” you back with her nose—it is absolutely adorable. She loads and unloads easily, ties and stands well for the farrier.
Breeze is ready just in time for the upcoming foxhunting and trail-riding seasons, but she has the mind, athleticism and versatility to continue in nearly any direction. She would be incredibly difficult to duplicate: young, beautiful, experienced, forgiving and genuinely enjoyable to have in the barn.
