Arthur (“Jockey Club Registered – Katsuro”) is an Unraced 12-year-old, 16.2hh Thoroughbred gelding with a well-rounded foundation, an honest work ethic, and a personality that everyone loves. He has had the same owner for 7 years and personally started as a 4-year-old, so his training history and care are fully known. He did not start over fences till he was late in his 5 year old/ going on 6 year old year.
Experience:
Arthur has done a little bit of everything and is the same horse in all new environments.
Fox hunting: Second flight all season in IL
Eventing: Competed Beginner Novice, attended multiple eventing clinics, and hunter paces.
Show Jumping: Shown up to 2’3”
Western: Fun barrel racing / games
Trails: Tons of miles, confident and not spooky
Lesson Program: Used by teen riders as their step up horse who were learning to jump higher.
He has no buck, rear, bolt, or bad behaviors. He is forward with a naturally built-in motor, making him best suited for a confident rider or a consistent program.
Goes in a Happy Mouth D-ring snaffle well and has also been ridden and jumped Bitless.
Temperament:
Goofy, sweet, social — we call him our “Horse Dog” because he has a big Labrador-style personality. He’s brave, honest, and enjoys having a job. No spook, no drama. You point him at any thing and give him a kick and he will do as you ask.
Quirks:
He will weave if kept in a stall so does best out in pasture
He has been prone to pulling back so does best if using a blocker tie ring when saddling, or just saddle him and keep him untied is best.
He does best in straight load trailers with a butt bar. He’s not a huge fan of stock trailers.
Health & Maintenance:
Why Offered For Sale:
Arthur is going unused and he truly thrives with consistency and a program. He’s ready to be someone’s only horse or would also be a great intermediate lesson horse for a program.
Arthur has the foundation, exposure, and temperament to continue in eventing, fox hunting, jumpers, all-around, Western, English, or even stay in a lesson setting with the right supervision.
