Felix retired from racing with a fractured splint bone on his right front. He had surgery over last winter when they found some damage to the suspensory ligaments as well. He has been rehabbed and is slowly coming back into work. He has been with us for a few weeks now putting on weight and slowly being introduced to work again. After a week of lunging he finally had his first post track ride today.
Felix stands tied in the arena for grooming and tacking. He stood at the mounting block like a pro. Felix can be opinionated and stubborn but gives up easily, I think this will change quickly with more saddle time. He is not mean, just set in his track ways and doesn’t understand how to bend or move off leg and would rather brace and lay on your leg.
Felix is a big boy and will test you on the ground by seeing how far he can drag you to food. He turns out well with others and is ready to find his forever home. Felix would like an easier second career such as trail riding, low level dressage, pleasure, etc. Due to the change in his suspensory we recommend no barrel racing or jumping other than a fun hunter pace here and there.
