Cayenne arrived at DCER in July 2025 as part of a seizure case involving 8 horses from Randall County that were ultimately awarded to our care.
Upon arrival, Cayenne was underweight, surviving extreme summer heat with little to no food or water. Her name, symbolizing fiery spirit and passion, perfectly captures the remarkable soul we’ve come to cherish.
When she arrived, Cayenne was wearing a halter that had clearly been on far too long. She was terrified of being caught to the point that she would run people over to avoid it. She lived in a constant state of flight…But time, patience, and gentle care have worked their magic. We’ve witnessed Cayenne’s beautiful transformation as she slowly learns to trust again, her walls coming down bit by bit.
Now thriving in our training program, she reveals not only exceptional talent but also a wonderfully affectionate nature that touches everyone who works with her. Watching her journey from fear to trust has been profoundly moving, and we’re filled with hope and excitement as she continues blossoming into the amazing horse she was always meant to be!
