“Buck” is a 2 year buckskin Quarter Horse gelding. He came to us through the kill-buyer’s truck and was community bailed almost immediately. He was brought into our rescue and we treated his wounds and started his medical care. “Buck” stands 14 hands and would be a cute pasture ornament.

“Buck” came into the rescue with a big laceration on the right side of his neck and what we thought was a femur fracture – both untreated. We cleaned him up and treated him with Zarasyl ointment. In about three weeks, the wound was almost fully healed and closed up with minimal scarring.  “Buck” had his femur x-rayed at Cornell and it was found that his hip is dislocated, and there were no broken bones.  The Vets at Cornell said that it is too late to try and fix the dislocated hip and that it is going to keep him from being a normal horse. “Buck” has quite the personality! He’s spunky, quirky and full of curiosity!

“Buck” is good for the veterinarian and farrier, and he stands very well tied. We suspect he was being started for under saddle and something happened. Due to the extensive injuries, “Buck” is not being adopted out as ride-able.  He is a cool colt that needs a solid home that can understand that he is forever a special needs horse.
