Blake is a 2-yr-old BLM mustang gelding who was picked up in holding on April 3, 2026, to participate in the Rising Star Division of the Dakota Showdown Horse Trainer Challenge. He was paired with youth trainer Haylee Nichols in Gillette, WY.
Haylee says Blake he is a goofy, playful boy, who picks up a loud feedsack in his mouth and waves it around then gets concerned with a bird sitting on his fence post 5 seconds later.
Lately they’ve been working on desensitizing, being aware of feet placement, getting his feet trimmed.
Trailer loading, and staying in his own space.

Blake will be looking for a home at the Dakota Showdown Finale on August 22-23, 2026 in Lennox, SD, through a bidding/auction process. You must be approved to adopt to bid, so apply by August 20!
