Beanie as we have affectionately nicknamed her, is a 16-year- old Dappled Standardbred gaited mare we saved from Moores auction February 2024. She’s 15.3h. She previously raced under the name “Extreme Terror.”
She is UTD on shots, dental, and stands for the farrier and has a negative coggins! She stands perfectly to be groomed and hosed down when it is hot. She is fine stalled or outdoors in a herd. She was a pacer racehorse, then possibly a buggy horse for a decade after her racing days were over.
She is a very sweet girl who has had a hard life and deserves a soft landing with her herd and human mate. Physically, Beanie shows signs of ringbone in the left hind hoof that wears down differently, but that improved significantly with regular trims. She runs around like there is no tomorrow. While she doesn’t currently require any additional maintenance, her arthritis may progress with time, eventually necessitating daily pain management.
Beanie could be trained for light riding—provided her adopter is attentive to her ringbone and lets her decide what she’s comfortable handling. She will need her own space to eat her grain.
