Marion is a grade mare built like a Morgan. I had her DNA tested (not completely sure it’s accurate yet), and it said she was Standardbred, TWH, and Trakehner. She is estimated by dental to be around 13 to 14 yo and stands approximately 14.1 hands high. She is on the lighter side and would be best for a light adult or older child. She is not a 4-H horse. She was a former Amish cart horse and knows her basic under-saddle commands, but does not have any more advanced buttons. She will take advantage of more timid or unsure riders, so due to this, an advanced beginner and up is recommended. She has not had any dangerous behaviors, buck, bite, rear, bolt, kick ect. If she spooks, she spooks flat and recovers quickly. She stands great for the farrier (often falling asleep) and is barefoot. She has no medical issues and does fabulously for the vet. She has great ground manners and can be handled by anyone. She will walk from her pasture to the cross ties and park there by herself without tying while I groom her. 90% of the time I don’t tie her. She loves being groomed. She picks up her feet well. When you reach for her back feet, watch your hands and just catch her foot because she’s picking it up as you are reaching down. She does well with dogs, cats, cars, trucks, semis, planes, and tractors. She will cross ropes, poles, bridges, tarps, waters, drainage pipes, and downed logs (really anything I have asked her to). She is gaited but needs some additional work to stay in gait. I do not know much about gaited horses. I believe she is foxtrotting? She does W/T/C, and her canter is smooth as silk. I have only been using her for trails and obstacles, but with the way she moves, she would do great in dressage. I am reluctantly rehoming for one reason only. Shortly after I got her, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. A few months later, I had my thyroid removed. I began gaining weight and hoped I would be able to get back down once the levels had been corrected with the medication. They did not. With her being on the smaller side, my 35lb weight gain was substantial, and I am no longer in the comfortable/safe range for her. I have a TON of videos and would be happy to send them upon request. Price is negotiable to the right home.
