Abigail is a beautiful 17-year-old black and white Appaloosa mare with a gentle and loving personality. She is broke to ride, easygoing, and has been a wonderful companion horse here at our rescue.
Her story started when she was purchased from auction and later left behind on a property that was being sold. We were contacted and told she needed to be picked up immediately or she would be sent back to auction. We stepped in that weekend and brought her to safety.
When Abigail arrived, she was underweight and in need of care, stability, and time to decompress. Since being with us, she has gained healthy weight, received proper care, and truly blossomed into a kind and dependable mare.
Abigail gets along well with both people and other horses and does not cause problems within the herd. She has primarily served as a companion horse for new rescue arrivals and has helped many horses settle in comfortably.
The only quirk we have discovered is that she does require sedation for farrier trims. Aside from that, she has been an absolute gem to work with and be around.
She is scheduled for her yearly wellness exam and dental float at the end of May to ensure she is fully up to date on her care.
Abigail deserves a loving home where she can continue to be appreciated for the sweet and gentle mare she is.
