Cherry is sound, well mannered and a great trail horse. She just needs a tune up and would prefer to not canter.

Cherry is a lovely mare with great manners and sound to ride. She does need a tune-up and currently would not be able to canter with someone on her back.

Description

Cherry (RMK Cherokee) is a Western and Parelli Level 2 trained, 2003, AQHA, 15.1hh, Sorrel mare. Although Cherry has not been ridden in 3-4 years, her ground manners are flawless, and she follows directions like a pro. In Parelli’s language, Cherry is a left brained introvert. Once her riding is ‘tuned up’ Cherry will be all the horse she can be. Once mounted, Cherry waits for your request to ‘walk.’ She does not like to canter (though she can) as it hasn’t been asked of her in years. Cherry will do anything for an owner who treats her fairly and is a true partner. She has been taught to stand ‘at liberty’ for grooming, tacking and the farrier. Cherry, for 3-4 years, has not been bridled and gets a carrot when the bit is coaxed into her mouth If a pedestal-like item is available, she very well might stand on it assuming she’ll get a treat. She is a super easy keeper and may be food aggressive with herd mates, however, she very politely removes treats from your palm. Since she foundered, on pasture/round bales (at will grazing), about 3 years ago Cherry gets 2 10# hay bags, daily, and, at best, is on pasture 60-90 minutes per day. She is great with kids and cats but has chased dogs away. You definitely should cherry-pick Cherry!

She is waiting for you in Princeton, MN. For additional information or to meet and greet Cherry, contact adopt@thisoldhorse.org.
