BEHS 1005 - Sprinkles

Sprinkles was removed from negligent owners and placed with Bluebonnet by animal control.

Sprinkles has cataracts in one eye and appears to be blind in that eye. When she arrived, she had several bouts of uveitis in her other eye but has not had a bout of uveitis in over two years. She has no other known health or lameness problems.

Thank you to photographer Brenda Koehne for the beautiful photos of Sprinkles!

Sprinkles is good to catch, lead, and load. She stands for farrier work and wears a fly mask. She didn't have much training when she came to Bluebonnet, but she spent some time with a trainer preparing for the Fall 2020 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She, unfortunately, suffered an injury at the trainer’s so her training was cut short. While she’s sound now, she’s very, very green under saddle. She was being ridden by a foster home but spooked badly, resulting in the foster home falling off. She is a fairly high strung horse that will need an experienced rider to work with her on the ground, and then bring her along under saddle. She may always be a bit spooky on her blind side though.
