Jack Daniel’s Neat (Shakespeare)
9 years old Gypsy Vanner. 15.2 Hands. Black.
Meet Shakespeare: The Ultimate Kid-Safe Gypsy Vanner!
Shakespeare lives up to all the accolades of the Gypsy Vanner breed! He is quiet, fearless, enjoys people, and of course, he’s stunning. Perfect for kids/husbands in and out of the saddle, Shakespeare is truly one of a kind.
Solid-colored Gypsies are rare, and Shakespeare’s beautiful black coat, thick mane, and tail make him a standout. Historically, solid colors were bred out of the Gypsy Vanners during the wars to prevent confiscation by the military, which favored these horses for their bravery and disposition. This is why most Gypsy Vanners today are either Piebalds (black and white) or Skewbalds (red and white). Shakespeare, however, retains that stunning solid black color, making him exceptionally unique.
He is perfect with riders of all ages and abilities and excels on the trails. Shakespeare is not just trail broke; he is Los Angeles broke. With hundreds of hours exploring Griffith Park, he is accustomed to helicopters, tents, shopping carts, drones, freeway rush hour, bridges and tunnels, haunted houses, marathons, bouncy castles, loud birthdays, bands, parties, music, large trucks, farm equipment, buses, and tractor trailers. He also stands for the farrier and vet, stands to mount, cross ties, crosses water, and trailers easily, as well as is an effortless lunge and bareback ride. Even starring in a music video, he stood and worked patiently on set for hours. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpLVzabw3Ko)
Shakespeare is like a celebrity everywhere he goes, always turning heads and receiving picture requests. We’ve often been surrounded by over a dozen school kids at the park, and he will stand quietly as they swarm and pet him. He’s the only horse like him we’ve ever had, and we may never have another. He’s an absolute treat to have in the barn, and we’ll definitely miss him.
