Hazel participated in the 2023 Dakota Showdown Horse Trainer Challenge where she did very well, however did have some anxiety in the show environment. She is solid under saddle but needs a confident rider. Her go to reaction is to stand still, and needs to be sure her rider is confident before she will listen. She will be the kind of horse who bonds deep to one person.
In training, Hazel was a solid horse who did everything asked of her – trail rides alone, no problem meeting cows, and very little spooked her. She can be tough to catch but comes straight to a bucket (typical Morgan 🙂 and once caught she leads, is good for trims, loads into a trailer, is good for vetting, grooming and tacking up. She really just needs someone to give her time to get to know her and help her find her confidence.
