Greys the Boy “Greyson” is a tall and elegant 2019 KY-bred dark bay gelding whose sire is Eclipse Award 2007 Champion Sprinter, Midnight Lute. Greyson is looking for a partner who will enjoy his long, flowing stride, natural rhythm and sweet personality. Greyson is big, slow gaited, hunter type and we think he could also develop into an elegant dressage partner. Greyson is a willing learner with a great work ethic who likes to take time to process new information and is learning pressure and release and gaining strength. Greyson remembers what was worked on in the previous session, and we are pleased with his steady progress. Greyson has experience lunging at the walk, trot, and canter with and without side reins, has been ridden in the indoor arena at the walk, trot, and canter, and jumped over small jumps on the lunge line without a rider. He is easy to slow down, steer, and bend, is currently working on driving from behind, goes comfortably on a loose rein and is making great progress as he is slowly introduced to contact using the bit to develop a more working frame with asking him to position his head, neck, and body more effectively. Greyson currently lives outside 24/7 in a herd of geldings and is comfortable with neighboring pastures of geldings. He is at the bottom of the herd and is respectful of his herd members in all situations. He is accustomed to electric fence lines and will do best with that living arrangement to ensure he remains respectful. Greyson is comfortable with multiple handlers and is easy to catch, friendly in the field and leads in and out of the field. He respects a handler who will remind him to be polite and is easily corrected if need be. He likes to assess smaller spaces such as stalls when being led but is good in the stall, will wait quietly and enjoys having company in the barn. He is good in crossties, enjoys grooming, slow and patient tacking, and is well-behaved for the vet and farrier. Greyson has worn front shoes in the past but is currently doing well barefoot. He has a great appetite and is currently on a free choice feeding program of second cutting alfalfa/grass hay mix, a concentrate and fat supplement to support his weight. Depending on his future climate he may need to be blanketed. Greyson sold for $35K at auction as a yearling. His racing career included 13 starts, a race record of 2-0-1 and earnings of $131,334. He was retired with a soft tissue injury in his left foreleg after his last workout in July 2024. This sweet and talented boy is ready to excel in a new career!
