This colt is the one everyone seems to be looking for. We purchased him as a yearling and have done all the training on this guy. Our program places an emphasis on never over-facing them, building a good foundation of trust and not putting a heavy workload on those growing joints. He's currently being pointed towards the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association Futurity this fall if he doesn't sell before and is right on track and shooting nice smooth, pretty patterns. He will be one you can use on the ranch all week and take to a show and enter everything on and have fun and WIN.
We have done so much stuff on this gelding and he just wants to ride and be a using horse he loves going and doing. He's been hauled a lot including to National level mounted shooting events and multiple out of state trips to see the sights and learn from our seasoned horses and he just fits right in. He is a big gelding with good bone but also has some moves and really wants to stick that hip in the ground and stop and turn around. He moves as pretty as any using horse I've seen and has been on too many overnight camping trips to mention, high-lined all night. Will lope circles all day long, rides in a snaffle or a shank bit super light, moves off your legs really well and has at least three different gears at all three gaits (i.e. soft trot, working trot and extended trot). He tracks and herds cattle, sets balloons, ponies younger colts, crosses about anything trail riding and for a four year old doesn't have a lot of nonsense. Wants to be your best buddy and absolutely loves attention and affection.
We will tell you everything about this horse good and bad, we want him in the RIGHT home and while we have plenty of others to ride we also don't need him gone. Newbies or inexperienced folks please don't apply, we consider him well broke and super easy to ride but he IS still a baby and needs consistency. He ties all day long, hobbles, loads and hauls like a pro, stall or pasture doesn't matter to him, not buddy sour, ground ties while saddling, bathing and clipping - this kid knows not to move his feet when he's under halter unless he's asked. Lunges really well but we don't lunge him before we get on him and he will ride right off even after several days off. He's 15.2hh right now he's a big guy and I think he will be 16hh before he's done growing. We jump on him bareback in a halter and push cows no problem.
We expect a lot of our colts and our mounted shooting horses and he absolutely excels at everything we have thrown at him. No horse is perfect but we think very highly of this gelding and he's only up for sale because we are pro-level mounted shooters and he doesn't want to go fast. He does have a lot of heart and try and would be fantastic in a ranch horse versatility show home.
