Bur-Dal Lord Solomon exemplifies the modern sportpony sire in type, movement, and conformation. Standing at 11.3 hands, he is an excellent size to breed to your 'normal' sized mare and still get a pony foal. When breeding larger mares, Section A ponies are the best choice as there is no size hidden ih their pedigrees. You are almost always gauranteed a pony if your mare is under 16.1 hands.
Lord Solomon was licensed by the North American Sportpony Registry in 2008. He received First Premium status, and even got an 8.5 on his freejump! The judges also commented on his very good temperment. We plan to compete him in driving, and hunters later this year to fulfill his performance requirements.
He is a very elastic mover, with three very good gaits. His more modern type makes him an even better cross on larger mares. Conformationally, he is very good. Lord Solomon has great legs and hooves and can go with or without shoes without a problem.
The best part about Lord Solomon, however, is that he passes on his wonderful traits VERY consitently! We couldn't be more pleased with the foals he has produced for us. All have wonderful conformation, movement, and SUPER temperments! Even when bred to a variety of mares, he will produce good movers, with correct conformation, and his trademark temperment. We have been exceptionally impressed with his foals out of Arabian mares.
All of Lord Solomon's foals are eligible for registration as Half Welsh with the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of America, or pure Welsh if the mare is a purebred registered Welsh. If the mare is approved NASPR/AWR his foals are also eligible for that registry.
Lord Solomon's offspring are proving to be very good. A filly that I bred this year, out of an Arabian mare by Genesis C, has been quite successful. She scored a 72.1% and a 75% at her first USDF Dressage Sporthorse Breeding show, she won the 'Ponies in Hand' class by 10 points! This particuliar filly also recently attended a WPCAC Gold Rated show and was first place 2 and under 1/2 Welsh under both judges, AND chosen for Reserve Grand Champion Half Welsh! An accomplishment especially because she is 9 months old, and in the yearling growth stage. This filly will be shown many more times in 2010. We're very proud of her.
