I grew up in Evergreen, Colorado; however, I've been out east in Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania training and competing in 3-Day Eventing. I've competed successfully through Intermediate (Second/Third level dressage; 3'9"-4'3" jumping) I've worked with many of the US top riders including: Phillip Dutton, Boyd Martin, Mimi and Mark Combs, Martha Lambert, Jane Sleeper, Richard Lamb, Shiloh Gilbert, Grant and Sharon Schneidman, and many more. The last few years I have been starting and training younger horses and bringing them up for sale. I also have 3 years experience teaching Pony Club from students ranging from D2 through their A ratings. Since, I've recently come back into the area I'm looking for any client or horse that is seeking help.
I have been riding my whole life and competing for more than 20 years in most English disciplines. Most recently in Kentucky I worked with a well-known Hunter/Jumper trainer and judge, Bobby Dreyer.
I have a passion for training and teaching others to learn and succeed with horses; and, more often helping horses succeed with their owners. My philosophy in training horses is simple: If you can get the body working and under the rider, then the horse's head will fall into place. I am a very soft, yet confident rider and do my best to find the right job for each horse. My experience has taught me that horses love to work and do their job, they just have to understand what it is; and, it is my job to understand their qualities and place them in the right job to build their confidence, which enables them to succeed.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Economics, so I am more than capable of understanding markets and the value of each horse. I use my degree every day when I look at how I can train each horse and person more efficiently and I work hard to ensure the happiness of each horse and client.
I am currently working out of Ariston Equestrian, which is Exit 252 off I70 Evergreen Pkwy located on Swede Gulch Rd. There is room for boarding and the environment is a small friendly barn feel with large barn amenities. Huge indoor and outdoor ring, oversized stalls, constant care, and always smiling faces.
Please call or email with any questions. I will be happy to forward references.
