the wellesley hotel is set to become the first six star
hotel in london. until june 2010 the former office building
was the pizza on the park restaurant. the hotel is due to
open its doors in november 2012 with 36 bedrooms, all of
which will be suites.
the hotel is owned by arab investments' city and country
hotels, has been designed by 'fox linton' and is being
developed by rhimesong for some £36 million pounds.
once its finished it will incorporate the opal restaurant
with a twenty eight seat capacity and serving italian
dishes. there will also be the crystal bar with live jazz
music. the cigar terraces will include the uk's largest
bespoke humidor. pride of place will the largest suite in
london with no less than 4 bedrooms, a private lift and
views over hyde park.
the hotels design will marry contemporary and classic
styles with a mix of the buildings 1920's art deco past and
a touch of modern glamour.
the wellesley hotel is a 1920s knightsbridge townhouse with
a famous musical heritage. the building has been
beautifully restored with a modern take on the art deco
style and now offers contemporary luxury, traditional
glamour and uncompromising service in one of london's most
prestigious locations.
centered around the hotel's wide colonnades will be the
cigar lounge and terrace, the crystal bar and the oval
restaurant.
the cigar lounge with its private heated cigar terrace will
aim to offer one of the world's largest collections of
cigars sold on a stick-by-stick basis, whilst the crystal
bar will feature a specialist whiskey and cognac wall
alongside and extensive menu of fine wines, spirits and
cocktails.
