If your center is successfully serving veterans but you wish to learn innovative ways to expand your programming, this conference is for you.
If your center is serving veterans but having a difficult time with recruitment and retention, this conference is for you.
If your center is considering expanding its services to veterans, this conference is for you.
At this conference, you will:
-Develop an understanding of the emotional, physical, and mental issues facing today's returning veterans as well as those of veterans from past conflicts, and develop mechanisms for dealing with those issues within a therapeutic riding program
-Learn how the mechanisms of the brain (left hemisphere vs right hemisphere) change when interacting with equines
-Learn how to recognize and deal with an individual in crisis situations, including suicide prevention
-Learn how other centers have developed programs, recruited participants, and retained ridership
View innovative programming ideas such as carriage driving, drill team work, work with cattle, work in the round pen, colt starting
-Learn about other innovative programming ideas such as all veteran horse shows, day camps, retreats
-Learn from veterans and their family members how equine therapy has improved their lives
-Learn about strategic planning for the veterans' program
-View the premier of the movie “Playing with Magic” featuring Dr. Allan Hamilton and his work using horses with cancer survivors, those with autism, those coping with PTSD, and many others
