Siskinds LLP is a regional law firm with international reach: we service clients locally, nationally and internationally. We are one of the largest and most well-recognized full-service firms in Southwestern Ontario.
Taimi Williamson, the head of our Equine Law practice group, is a life-long equestrian: she eats (not literally), sleeps and breathes horses. Starting out in the Pony Club in Spain at the age of 5 she later moved to Canada and competed on the A-circuit in the hunter, jumper and equitation classes. She currently boards and trains in London, Ontario at an A-level facility. Taimi has been a lawyer in our business law group since 2004, and specializes in corporate contracts and business law. Taimi has taken her contract drafting skills, negotiation skills and corporate knowledge and has applied it to the horse industry. She handles all aspects of the horse business, including: breeding contracts, training contracts, syndicate and partnership agreements, leases, part-leases, sales contracts, boarding contracts and sponsorship contracts. Taimi understands the horse industry, horse people, and the practical realities faced by trainers, breeders, and owners. She applies her legal skills providing practical, relevant and cost effective legal services, helping horse people maximize their time doing what they love knowing their legal needs have been met.
Taimi works on a fixed-fee basis for most matters, eliminating any billing surprises and allowing clients to build their legal costs into their business expenses. In addition, Taimi has developed the use of standard questionnaires, enabling clients to convey all of the required transactional information in an easy, one-step process.
