Jessica Pickford of Pickford Performance Horses, has been training in Battle Creek for the past three years. She is a graduate of The University of Findlay with a degree in Western Equestrian Studies and Equine Business Management. We currently have have space for one more horse in our training program for the month of December. Training is very extensive and will cover any breaking out, green work or finishing as well as specifics such as trail riding, show work, pattern classes or even ground manners, such as leading, lunging, trailer loading, clipping and tieing. We are very flexible to fit any other unique needs of clients.
Main areas of expertise are Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle and Trail, but also include Jumping, Reining, Showmanship, and pattern work. All horses in training receive a stall at night and all day turnout, hay, grain, supplement and blanket changing care if provided and are worked 5 days a week. Weekly lessons are included in training price for the specific horse in training, although we do ask to have the first week to work with your new horse alone for a horse that has already been started, and the first 30 days with an unbroke one. Owners are still more than welcome to come and watch to see what their horse is learning. Our philosophy, is if your horse is sent home trained, but you're not trained as well, all the work is worthless.
PPH strives to teach each student the importance of the fundamentals of horsemanship and how they apply to all levels of riding. Another priority to PPH is to make a personal connection with every student, to be a good role model and to give all young students someone to look up to.
