IMA SPLASH LASS, 2005 AQHA/APHA mare, 15.3 hands, began training as a rider in the fall as a yearling. Her combination of disposition and talent made minimal training required. As a two year old, Lass was primarily used for trail riding except when taking a western pleasure video, also on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REyYXfruofI ). In the summer of 2008, a friend commented that she had seen Lass on YouTube and liked her way of going and asked whether we had ever jumped her. Even though she performs extremely well in western pleasure, as shown in the other Youtube video, we had always thought her forte would be English events. The light bulb went on!! Later that day, since we had some caveletti, Lass was warmed up on the lounge line, introduced to the caveletti , and gradually jumped over three feet on the lounge line. It was obvious she was a natural and loved the challenge. Take note of her effortless, freeflowing strides on the Youtube video! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9liqW1AaVjA or look under Ima Splash Lass – working hunter/jumper). Since my wife Pat had ridden event horses in the past, she began riding Lass over stacked caveletti two or three times a week plus trail riding. In September, Lass was introduced to a jumping course at our veterinarian's (Dr. Kathy Ott, an accomplished equestrian) arena. Keeping in mind, this was Lass' first encounter with a real course, Kathy's first comment was, "She's a natural," and the second was, "She's ready to show." This video shows Pat riding on the third and fourth session, and Kathy on the fourth session. (Actual total time jumping during the four sessions was less than one hour--Amazing!! Most of what you are seeing was 80% of the fourth session.) IN JULY 2009, LASS WAS SHOWN IN HER FIRST WORKING HUNTER SHOW AND DID GREAT. Based on our 40+ years in the Quarter horse business, our prediction regarding Lass is that working hunter and other English events will be her forte. She would certainly be a candidate for eventing. Show her at Breed shows and AHSA. From our personal experience, Ima Splash Lass is one of those rare individuals that has the talent/disposition to capture your attention and stand out in a crowd. Easily, jumps 3 feet. Packs her natural long flowing tail that touches the ground. Her sire is Coosada (APHA Champion) by Coosa and out of Ladys Van Flight (Superior Halter. Her dam is Splash Finesse sired by Skippa Splash (Superior Halter) and out of Cool Finesse sired by Ima Cool Skip (World Champion Halter). IMA SPLASH LASS is being offered for sale for $8,500.
