"Maggie" is a great mom. I purchased her with the intent of training her to ride, but between purchase and pick up she had a leg injury that prevents her from being much of a performance horse. She's completely sound and I have since ridden her out on the trail in company, but she's VERY green and "steering" is limited. No bucking or taking off though -- when in doubt she stands perfectly still!
I've foaled her out twice now. First one was a bit rough as she wasn't in perfect health when I picked her up at around 9 months pregnant. Her Spring 2009 foal was an easy, easy pregnancy and birth. She laid down and passed the foal in minutes and had the afterbirth passed within an hour.
Easy keeper, easy breeder. Always has plenty of milk. Her foals have been EASY to wean -- they're just "ready" to go play with their friends and neither mare nor foal calls. Braids, bathes, loads, trailers with no problems. Very refined APHA
Two black foals out of Friesian stud and last foal seems to be turning grey out of grey stud.
Recently had her inspected for the Oldenburg Mare book. Scored 96, entered into the Pre Mare book (ISR). Foal averaged 8.0 and I am VERY pleased with him.
If I weren't in the military and moving again so soon, I would have kept her for another foal from the same stud. She is currently open. Any reasonable offer, to great home only.
