Are you looking for an intelligent, smooth gaited, very relaxed trail horse, who’s still young, and just happens to be gorgeous - a soul mate that you can truly connect with?
I will try to describe Flicka Bella as honestly and thoroughly as possible. I have left for college and really need to find her a home with her own special person to love..
I have met a lot of horses in my life, but every once in a while there comes a horse that seems to have an intuitive depth to them that is hard to describe, Flicka is one of those horses.
If you like a really spirited horse that keeps you always on your toes and gives you a constant adrenaline rush, Flicka probably is not for you. She’s quite content on a trail ride to mosey along with the quarter horses if you want or she will pick up the pace and gait along beautifully if asked. She will follow or lead. She doesn’t get hot or out of control.
Flicka is 9 years old, a great age as far as being over the unpredictable silliness of a younger horse, yet still having many good years of riding left. She has great 100% natural gaits – you can’t make her not gait. She is unshod, with good strong hoofs. She has been on miles of trails and varied terrain, and nothing seems to rattle her. She handles water, animals, birds, bridges, vehicles, etc. wonderfully. The most spook she has ever done is to freeze in place and stare. She has never reared, bucked or run off with anyone. She has never even thougt about biting.
Flicka is by far the most intelligent, sensitive horse I have ever worked with; she is very focused and loves to learn new things. She will only be sold to a good, horse loving home, where gentle training is used. We won't sell her to the rough tough, ‘show ‘em who’s boss’, break their spirit, type of rider.
One thing about Flicka I want to share is that due to some abuse in her past she can be nervous around strangers. It takes her a while to warm up and feel safe with new people. Once she knows she is safe she will bond like glue and is very relaxed and you can do anything with her. I think she would be best in a home where she is not just part of a large herd but can really connect with her own secial person.
Saying good bye to Flicka will be really tough for me, but I knew when I bought her that this was a 'project' and that with college ahead of me I could not keep a second horse. If I know her new owner will love her like I do it will make it much easier.
I would just like to write a quick word on the kind of person I feel Flicka would do best with. I would strongly prefer it to be a gentle, calm, loving person who's willing to take the time to earn her trust before expecting her to totally relax with them. Please note, Flicka does NOT respond well to aggressive behavior or negative punishment training.
*** (Note from Mom) Ali has left for college and Flicka is really missing all her attention. She is a wonderful horse and I would be glad to talk to anyone seriously insterested. Please call 501-548-1327. Email - jojosand7@yahoo.com Thanks!
