child's pony! $500

17 year old 12.2hh Welsh pony cross
AD#: 3410057
Rosie is a 17 year old, 12.2hh welsh pony cross. She is a red/bay roan and super cute and pretty. We've had her for two years but sadly my 13 year old daughter has outgrown her. My daughter has jumped her, ridden her on the trails and walked her down the road. She rides her bittless, bareback, english and western. Rosie walks, trots and canters and is forward but not too forward. No buck, bite or kick. She is a GREAT beginner horse in the ring and takes care of her rider, we put little kids on her all the time, they lead her around and brush her and shes great. However she is not the best beginner horse on the trail because when you ride out of the ring sometimes she will balk and rear about a half foot off the ground, because she doesn't want to go down the trail, once she is in the habit of riding out of the ring on trails or ect. she doesn't cause any problems and will go willingly. Also on the trail she trys to eat grass and leaves and can be a bit strong, but thats it. We've never ridden her on the trail with other horses so she may be better about eating when theirs other horses to keep up with, lol :-) When she was younger she was a show pony and I definitely see her being great in shows! She is not spooky at all, she has jumped in place about three times in the two years I've had her! She is good with other horses, dogs, cars, big machinery, and deer on the trail.
Rosie foundered last summer and in the early winter from too much grass and then from second cut hay but once taken off she was fine and is doing great now on first cut hay and no grass. We had the vet out to do a Cushing test and the "norm" range is 9-35, she was a 37 and since they should be at their lowest in spring we decided to error on the side of caution and put her on 1/2 a pergolide per day. She is doing great and my daughter has been riding her w/t/c. She is also a "hard keeper"... she is not on grain but given 1/2 cup sunflower seeds, 1/2 cup alfalfa pellets and 1 Tbsp equine saver powdered vitamin twice daily and gets 3/4 - 1 bale of hay per day and she is lean. We are asking $500 negotionable (my daughter wants to be able to get a larger pony with the money) but A loving, forever home is most important!
