Tyke is a Push Button competition horse. He is EXTREMELY EXPERIENCED. This horse has seen it all. (more photos coming soon!!!)
Tyke has competed in Hunter/Jumper, Eventing, and Dressage.
He has competition experience in Eventing up to Training level. Training level is 3'3". He is talented in Dressage, he is automatic in the Jumper arena, and he is a cross country machine. Tyke LOVES cross country. I have competed him in registered USEA competitions as well as in local shows.
Tyke has competed up to First level Dressage, but has second level training. He could do much much more, however I am not primarily a Dressage rider. Several Dressage instructors and advanced competitors have worked with him and absolutely love this horse. He is a great mover and learns very quickly. He also scores very well at shows.
Tyke has lots of experience in local Hunter/Jumper shows. We win every time. In fact it is extremely out of the ordinary not to take first place. I have jumped Tyke 4' and he clears it with ease. This horse Loves to jump.
Tyke has seen it all. He has extensive show experience. He acts the same at shows as he does at home. He loads well, trailers well, and has fantastic ground manners. His ground manners are so nice almost anyone could handle him.
Tyke is in good health. He does need hock injections on occasion, and he does need injections for navicular on occasion, but both of these are very manageable. Also, the navicular can be controlled by proper shoeing.
The only reason that I am leasing him is because I am in college and can't afford to give him the time that he needs. He is an active horse, but could be ridden by someone who wants to trail ride weekly or so. I have ridden this horse with out a halter, bridle, saddle, or anything on him and am able to control him in the arena. He is well trained and a phenomenal teacher. I have learned more from my time with him than with all other horses combined. To this day I still believe that he knows more than I do.
Tyke loves a challenge, and loves to think. Like I said he learns very quickly. He is an easy ride, and anyone is capable of riding him, from novice to advanced. However, he does require a strong rider, meaning someone who isn't afraid to put their foot down. At the beginning he will test you, and if you don't assert yourself he will walk all over you. However, if you put your foot down and declare that he must follow you then he is a perfect angel and you won't find a better horse.
I love Tyke, when I first got him I was barely jumping 2'3" and I was terrified of jumping. Tyke has taught me more than any horse or any instructor. It is because of Tyke that I am a confident and capable rider today.
I do have a few restrictions for his lease. I don't want to make his navicular worse so I don't want people jumping him above 3'. This of course is something that we can discuss when you come out and ride him.
Tyke really is a once in a lifetime horse, so come try him out, and I guarantee that you wont be disappointed.
