"Marcus" is a lovely coming 5-year old, bay TB-X gelding standing 16.1 h (measured with a stick with a level). We do not know what he is crossed with, as he does not have papers, though he came with a Coggins that said "Appendix." My vet confirmed his age when his teeth were floated in November, though.
He is GREEN, but has a great brain and loads of potential. Walk, trot, canter under saddle and has been lightly started over cavaletti and small jumps. He has 3 excellent gaits, including a spectacular canter. With finishing, he will excel as a jumper, eventer, or fox hunter. He is a correct mover who would also make an elegant dressage mount. He is a more forward ride and loves working over poles and jumps. His previous owner also trail rode him exclusively, though I have not taken him on trail myself. He loves people and enjoys his work. Puppy dog personality.
No vices. He is not spooky. No buck, bolt, or rear. He ties, bathes, clips, loads, and stands quietly for the farrier and vet. Currently barefoot. He is healthy, sound, and up to date on absolutely everything (vet, dental, farrier, de-worming, etc.). He is happy to be stalled or live out 24/7. He gets along well with other horses in turnout and is not dominant in turnout.
Due to his young age and level of training, he is NOT for a beginner rider. He requires a confident intermediate or better rider right now. With additional training and experience, he will eventually make a fantastic horse for any level rider. He is a dream project for an experienced rider.
He is completely sound, but he does have two blemishes that do not affect his soundness or performance. He is growing out a quarter crack in a hind hoof. It is growing out quite well barefoot with regular farrier care, and will probably grow out even faster with shoes. He also has a cold, hard bump on the front of a hind pastern that he came with. My vet has seen both and is not concerned about either. Neither have ever bothered him or affected his sounds. I have pictures of both for serious inquiries.
He was purchased in November as a resale project. He has been in inconsistent work since then due to the weather. He is for sale sooner than we anticipated because my assistant trainer's circumstances have changed and she is no longer able to ride. Please note that he is NOT in regular work right now, but the video was taken only a few weeks ago. If you want to come try him, no one will be able to ride him for you first. I understand that this is not ideal, and that is reflected in his price.
No trials. You are welcome to come try him and have him vetted, etc.
Please contact via email with any questions. We are happy to honestly answer all of your questions. We are most concerned with him being the right match for his next rider, and he will sell only to the perfect home.
