Remi is a nine year old, approximately 15.1hh, stocky, grey arab/paint gelding. Due to his owner being away and caretaker having surgery, Remi is sadly offered for sale. Don't let his picture fool you, he's a lovely light grey in the spring with lovely blue eyes!
Remi at this point is a blank slate. He was used as a trail horse before, but could go just about any direction. His favorite speed is SLOW! Definitely a kick ride. He's incredibly comfortable to ride, but since it's been a while, he's pretty out of shape. He should have no problem coming back to work. A rider hopped on him bareback and in a hackamore after he hadn't been ridden properly in months and he was an absolute saint at walk and trot.
That being said, he is proud-cut. An intermediate rider with a trainer is recommended, as he can be hard-headed at times. Does not buck or rear, just stops and needs some strong encouragement to go forward. Definitely herd oriented, however, once you get his mind on something else, he focuses on his rider. However, owner and rider STRONGLY believe with time under his belt, he will make a good children or husband horse.
Good ground manners, but could use a refresher. Respects you once he knows you're in charge. Leads easily, not pushy. Is a little antsy in crossties, but does stand after a few minutes. Good for farrier and vet. A little girthy, keeps head down for bridling. Loves being groomed. Is used to goats and cats. Lunges well.
Remi is currently barefoot and up to date on shots and worming. Easy to worm. He does have a very large overbite due to dental neglect from a previous owner, so he has to be ridden in a hackamore, which is included. A dentist may be able to correct it, but it does not affect him in any way. He direct reins, but should be able to pick up neck reining fairly easily. He's incredibly smart, can be a little looky, but once he's seen it, he gets over it for the rest of the ride. Doesn't shy or bolt, just stands and looks at it. When he was in consistent work, he was basically bombproof.
The ponies he is living with have been chewing on his mane and tail, so he's a bit raggedy at the moment. Mane and tail both grow fast on him though, if properly protected. He's the middle man in the pasture. Can live outside or in, but is happiest outside in a small herd. Respects the fence.
Remi is priced at $800 for a quick sale, although this is negotiable to the perfect home. He comes with his halter and lead, hackamore, and western saddle (size 16, needs a 34" girth).
