This is a TOP jumper bred foal from two upper-level winning parents. It is very rare to find a foal for sale where BOTH parents have had an upper level career and come from generations of proven jumping talent.
Sire: Cardento has proven himself at the highest level and was a solid member of the Swedish team. He won a Silver medal at the World- and European Championship and the Olympics of Athens. He won the Nations Cup of Rome, Dramman and Ikast. Individually he won, among others, the Grand Prix’s of Holte, Helsingborg, Angelholm, Gera, Kungsbacke (2x) and placed 2nd in Aarhus. Cardento placed 6th in the Worldcup Qualifier of Göteborg, placed 4th in the German Classics in Hannover and 6th in the Grand Prix of Stockholm.
His breeding successes are world class with the numbers of offspring highly placed in many Grand Prix. The most famous children are: Matrix (participated at the Olympics, and placed in several GP), Glory Days (Champion of Sweden, 4th in the GP of Wellington, 5th GP Stockholm and 2nd in the Nations Cup of Barcelona), Pimlico (won the World Cup Qualifier in St Petersburg and the GP of Minsk and placed 2nd in the Nations Cup of Moscow), Traffic Boy (placed 7th in the Derby of La Baule, won the Puissance in Rome and placed 8th in the American Invitational of Tampa), Nice Stephanie (placed 4th in the GP of London), Celestine (placed 4th in the GP of Drammen), Sammy Joe (placed 2nd in the GP of Drammen), Cadence (placed 9th in the Worldcup Qualifier of Tampa), Carrento Star (placed 2nd in the GP of Pforzheim and 5th in the Nations Cup at Hickstead) and Eurocommerce Damascus (placed 8th in the GP of Lamprechtshausen and 9th in the GP’s of Oliva and Zuidbroek). Cardento has several approved sons, among them Dakar VDL, Corporal VDL and Carrera VDL.
The dam of this foal is the retired show-jumper Porta Westfalica. She was shown in Germany prior to being imported and has an extensive show record as a level 8 jumper, showing and winning at top venues such as Spruce Meadows. Porta Westfalica's sire is the legendary Westfalen stallion Polydor. Polydor was approved in 1974 and stood at the Westfalien state stud until his death in 1999. His offspring at the top of the sport are too numerous to mention them all, but they include the following:
Michael Whitaker’s Two Steps, who was good enough to be crowned WBFSH Horse of the Year 1994/95. Jan Tops had La Silla, while Bert Romp rode Burg’s Pretty Woman. Beat Mändli rode Positano to team silver at the Sydney Olympics. In 2006, Pilgrim jumped successfully with Bjorn Nagel, while Sören Pedersen enjoyed success with Polly. Pontifex jumped well with Lutz Gripshöver. The Libero H mare, Libertina, out of a Polydor mare, has been a superstar with Jessica Kürten. The black stallion, Potsdam continues to attract mares at the State Stud in Warendorf. There are very few direct Polydor daughters around today, so Porta Westfalica is a treasure indeed. Porta Westfalica's damline is also one of the most import and and influential Thoroughbred lines in all of Germany (family 5-h). This family has an excellent reputation of producing riding horses for all disciplines in a very consistent manner. The super stallion Heraldik xx has a line to this family In addition this line has produced many stallion sons used in Germany for sport horse breeding. There have also been countless FEI level horses produced by this line, including Marcus Ehning's Anka 191, L'Espoir (Ludger Beerbaum), Waldi (Aaron Vale) as well as several upper level eventers and dressage horses. Porta Westfalica's tail female line is very, very special, indeed! Dam is picture in first three photos.
