MUST BE ADOPTED WITH LADY GODIVA!
Goldwing, a 22 year old Oldenburg mare, and Godiva (white feet) a 13 year old Oldenburg Mare, are available for adoption or sponsorship: As one door closes, another one opens, and so it is that a new door has opened for these beautiful horses. Over the last two years a very generous adopter was able to support them while we rehabilitated, re-trained, and healed their emotional scars. However, as of this month that support has ended and they now find themselves without a person to call their own.
Goldwing’s story is one of separation, detachment, and motherly love for a disabled child. As a broodmare for most of her life, she adored and cared for her children, as best as she could. The wonderful mother she is. People would them taken away from her, every time, leaving her with an emptiness and distain people in general. Over the last year, we worked through her anxieties, trained her to be ridden, something she loves; feeling that she has a purpose and reason to exist. When her daughter Godiva needed to be re-homed, we stepped in, and Goldwing’s adopter also agreed to adopt Godiva. The joy of having these two souls reunited was beautiful to watch and they are now inseparable. However, the emotional healing that I thought I would see in Goldwing’s eyes turned to worry and concern…..
For the last few months, when we turn Goldwing and Godiva out together, Goldwing makes Godiva move, no matter how much pain Godiva is in, and will not let her out of her sight. She knows she is hurting, and is frantic when she can’t see her in the stall next to her. She is screaming inside for someone to help her baby out of this pain. Since the treatment plan is very expensive, we have been unable to do this for her on our own. We possibly have an alternative remedy for her, which is not quite as expensive, but ideally, our past treatment and the new homeopathies should be combined for a complete recovery, which could take as long as 4 years. The body will take the time it needs to heal and only the universe knows how long that is.
I made Goldwing and Godiva a soul contract that they would never again be apart, and I will keep that promise. We are ultimately looking for someone who will feel their story, and not “use” them.
