GVHS registered. 7 yr old flashy B&W gelding. Son of Samson (UK) (Samson is by The Old Horse of Wales x The Sweeper Mare). Kazan was born in Belgium - his dam Gitte is DNA qualified. Samson was a half-brother to many "greats" in the breed: Cushti Bok, Romany King, Shampoo Boy, Romany Prince, The Red & White Mare, and several others that have stamped their immense quality permanently into the Gypsy Vanner breed. Kazan was the last premium colt imported into the USA from this very special stallion and the only one, to our knowledge, to be imported with a FIRST PREMIUM RATING!
Perfect conformation, typical true gypsy type, 14.3hh, thick & cobby, short backed lots of hair.
Amazing sweet calm temperament. Bomb proof, not herd bound at all, husband-safe, kid safe. Professionally trained. Learns fast, clicker trained, trick trained. Smiles on command, bows, gives kisses, touches items on command. Has been used in kids summer camps, even ridden by 5 yr olds. Comes when called even when we let him loose in the neighbourhood school field. Lets us put our 8lb dog on his back. Baths, ties, trailers, clips, puts up with ear cleaning, tooth brushing, and other random things we like to teach him.
Really great all around family horse as well as competitor. Healthy, fit and sound, ridden 3x weekly year round for 2hrs on mountain trails. Also regular ring training (every summer) by pro trainer. Started showing/eventing this year.
Has always been barefoot (wears cavallo boots on fronts for the trails). Regular health care including farrier every 6 wks and dentals (last floated in spring 2013). He lives with us and we spend time with him daily. Great around kids, dogs, ATVs, didn’t even freak out when we came across a bear on the trail, just stood still and waited for the rider’s instruction to slowly turn around.
Kazan is an amazing horse! Has done some eventing, goes in a French link as well as bitless - even jumps bitless. English saddles and treeless westerns are used regularly. We also ride him bareback every few weeks. Easy to handle. Lots of miles on this guy already on the trails and in the ring. Is an only horse (for past 3 years has been on his own) but has also boarded on occasion with friends who have horses and he gets along well with everyone. Goes on group trail rides, is good no matter what the situation!
