Mist is a two year old Buckskin QH gelding. He loves people and is very in your pocket and has been easy to to work with... He has his mothers beautiful dancer like movement and his fathers great mind and versatility. His dad won the open all around championship at the fall VA futurity show.
Notes from the trainer:
Mist is coming along very well. He is smart and willing and progresses very quickly. He is very athletic which gives him great balance, which is one reason why new exercises and maneuvers come fairly easy to him. Mist is naturally soft and moves off of pressure well. He quickly learned to give to bit pressure and easily stays round on soft contact at the walk, jog and lope. Mist is very willing to move forward which makes it easy to transitions him with light leg contact. He has very nice lope transitions from the jog and his walk-lope transitions are quickly improving as well. He is also very responsive to seat cues, he easily transitions down with shifting of the weight and he has a great stop and naturally sits down on his hocks. I am now working on his speed control and conditioning him to a collected jog and lope so that it'll become easier for him over time to hold collection himself. I am also doing a lot of exercises moving his body parts, he moves his shoulders very well so I am slowly teaching him to turn on his haunches. He can do a very nice 360 with a 180 forehand turn and a 180 haunch turn. I will be starting to teach him haunches in so that I can start setting him up for the lope departure. Mist is doing very well on trail rides. He is not spooky at all and very confident alone and in a group. He has already maneuvered a lot of obstacles, but I will be adding more and more to his training program.
Mist has been doing very well. He feels very broke for only being under saddle for 5 months. He has a great handle on him and is easy to control and maneuver. He collects easily, he has great transitions and speed control and a solid simple lead change. Mist has a rather short neck and naturally wants to carry his head and relatively high. It will take him a while to learn to relax his neck and carry his head more level. Mist was an absolute super star at his first horse show. He wasn't bothered being away from home at all and he acted like he had been showing all season. He never hollered for the other horses or acted nervous or stressed. Mist stayed very relaxed and showed like a pro. He did very well in his trail classes although he had very little practice over polls. He also did great in his Ranch Pleasure classes. He had great speed control, he listened well to me and he tried very hard to do his best which he really did. I am very proud of him for placing 9th in a class of 20 horses.
Mist has show ring flash, presence and bloodlines to be a top pleasure horse prospect but also has the mind to a great family horse. Mist has the finest of pleasure horse breeding from Dynamic DeLux (Top Ten World Show, AQHA Performance Champion, Top Ten World Show Offspring, known as the King of Pleasure), Dynamic in the Dark (AQHA High Point Performance Horse) along with two hall of fame horses (Joe Cody, Hotrodders Jet Set). He one of the first sons of Codys Classic Cruzer (Superior in reining, NRHA money earner, and ACTHA “America’s Favorite Trail Horse finalist”, AQHA Open all around Champion). His mother ,Darks Dynamic Cherie, has 2 IBHA ROMS in western pleasure and was a class winner at the IBHA Congress.
