"Jacko" is a solid, smart and talented gelding. He has shown at every level and worked on ranches across the country. I have owned this gelding since he was 5 months old and have enjoyed him for the past 12 years. He is athletic and willing to anything you ask of him and I have put everyone from toddlers to novice riders on him and he takes care of everyone. He has never had any health issues or vices. He loads up and will haul anywhere.
I am putting him for sale because I have become too busy with my job and travel constantly. I don't have time for him anymore and it's not fair to him to be ignored. He does not require much maintenance to stay fit or sound, but he needs a job and someone who will go out and challenge him.
As a yearling, he was shown in the lounge line classes at open, 4-H and APHA events. He hauled across the state and won his fair share of line and halter classes.
As a two and three year old, he went to the University of Findlay equestrian program where he was handled and ridden by a number of students in pleasure, cowhorse and reining prep events.
As a three and four year old he had a brief reining career. He has a solid, correct spin and rollback and is precise in his pattern work but never became a big enough stopper for me to pursue big league shows with him.
From his four year old year until he was eight, I showed him heavily in state and national APHA All-Around Circuits. During this time he was twice named National Honor Roll Champion for Showmanship, Horsemanship and Trail. He attended the 2006 World Show and placed Top 5 in the Open SBP Trail and Top 10 in the Open Pleasure.
For the past four years he has lived a ranch in Texas, working cattle and teaching kids how to ride.
Ideally, I would like him to go to an owner who wants to pursue the Ranch Horse Versatility shows with him because I think he would excel and be happy in those events. He would make a wonderful addition to a working ranch as well as a solid intermediate horse for a young rider who wants to go to show at the weekend breed or open shows.
He is a full 15.3h, he weighs 1,600lb and carries himself big. He is a real teddy bear, but he is not a small horse. Also, I have had him in many different herds over the years and socially he is: Dominant in a heard of younger horses, Middle-to-Bottom in a herd of older horses and just fine on his own. He really likes miniature donkeys and goats.
He is current on all vacs and worming. I have had him barefoot for the past four years and he has good, strong black feet.
