Minka (East Coast Soldier) is a 15.1 hand, April 1999 TB mare. She is an OTTB mare with limited starts. She is Jockey Club registered, and has been a great broodmare. She is built more like an Arabian, but is full blooded TB. She was neglected in her past and has some trust issues because of that. Minka is ridable, but I am selling her as "unbroke". This is ONLY because it has been so long since she has been ridden she will need a person with experience that could restart her properly if desiring to have her for a riding horse. She would need an experienced rider because of the reasons just stated. Minka has mainly been a pasture mate and broodmare for the past five plus years. Minka has had one foal for me, and was a great mother. She had a couple foals for her previous owner as well.
Minka is offered for sale only because I am currently in graduate school and need to reduce the number of horses I have with my time being limited. Minka has been through a lot in her past and I will only let her go to a great home where she can trust and enjoy human partner. She does well with other horses, and is pastured with mares and geldings. She is mid-range in the pecking order. She does require a stall or substantial run-in shed for the winter, along with a good blanket. She is fine in the colder weather, but her coat does not grow quite as thick as other horses and she can get chilled a bit easier than some of the other horses on the bitterly cold days.
Minka is not an extremely hard keeper but she does require grain twice daily along with hay and water. Minka is good horse. However, she is not a horse that always enjoys attention, but she has learned to enjoy human interaction some. Minka needs someone to continue to work with her and allow her to trust again and gain a human partner. I would like to find her forever type home. She would be a great addition as a pasture mate or broodmare. With some work she could make a good overall horse.
