Rio is a 16 h, 11 yr old registered AQHA Appendix Sorrel Gelding. He has competed successfully through the training level. Rio has been in local dressage / jumper shows along with A Rated 3 Day Eventing shows through 3'6" in OH, KY, MI, and PA. He only needs a little more prep to move up to the preliminary level.
He has a wonderful, willing temperament and is easy to handle both from the ground and in the saddle. He is good with clipping, trailering, bathing and farrier and patient for braiding. He is currently not shod and does fine, but has been shod while showing. He has NO soundness issues.
He is fast to learn and always trying to please. Very forgiving to his rider, solid and confident to the jumps. Extremely handsome and flashy, with four white socks and a blaze. Very people oriented personality! The canter is effortless and balanced, the trot smooth and forward with a very nice free walk. He goes on contact or a loose rein. Plus he is a reliable and fun ride on the trails.
He has become a beloved pet as well as a seasoned and reliable partner in the show ring. We are looking for a good home for him where he can continue to train and show. His rider has gone off to college. He would do best with a knowledgeable, confident, young or adult rider or someone working with a professional trainer to reach his fullest potential. He is a smart boy who truly enjoys being challenged by an ambitious rider. With the right pairing, the sky is the limit as to what you can accomplish with him.
