Machado is going Walk/Trot under saddle (rider pictured is tall - 5'10"). He is a quiet and friendly chestnut gelding with very good size and bone, but not heavy. He is of fantastic sport horse type and personality. He is well muscled with powerful hindquarters and a strong shoulder. Wonderfully straight and correct legs/feet. He is sound, surefooted and even keeled. He ranks mid-way in the herd hierarchy and is generally a very quiet gelding. He is sensible and we've found that he loves children, just like his sire. Machado is half sibling to our 2007 IDSH filly Serendipity to be posted on this site as well as our farm website.
Machado is sired by approved Irish Draught stallion Macha Breeze RID who was a driving horse and later an eventer. Macha Breeze has a fantastic Irish Draught disposition and has passed that on to Machado. The dam is an Appaloosa Sport Horse (Appaloosa x Standardbred) mare by Chocklate Confetti who was also an eventer.
Machado was born and raised here. He has been off the property once to act as companion to another horse at a dressage show. Machado quickly settled in, toured the show grounds and took it all in stride. He has a good mind for showing and outings.
Started late due to growth, Machado began his ground training in Dec 2012. He is currently going Walk/Trot under saddle. He should be moving into canter work shortly. With his breeding, conformation and personality we expect this young gelding to be good dressage horse, an eventing prospect and a good all arounder for an advanced beginner working with a trainer (because he is green) or an intermediate rider experienced at bringing young horses along.
Machado is eligible for registration with the IDHSNA as an Irish Draught Sport Horse as well as the Appaloosa Sport Horse Association (ApHSA). You can see more information about him on our website. Most current photos here are at 4 years of age. He has grown and balanced out more since then. We are happy to take more current photos when it stops raining and ground conditions permit.
