It is hard not to fall in love with this horse's sweet temperament. Yo Af is a horse with a lot of potential, with a good shoulder, strong legs and a lot of power. This is not a beginner horse! An advanced Pony Club rider or a serious amateur could get a lot out of this guy. He needs a rider with a quiet seat, and soft but firm hands and legs. He is currently trained by a professionnal: walk, trot, canter, leg yield, shoulder-in, half pass and counter canter are all understood and he recently started working on the flying change in dressage. Can easily jump 3 feet, will soon try to raise the poles a bit more.
Yo Af participated in his very first show in August and got a very honorable second place ribbon in dressage. He had a great attitude, a bit more hot on the second day over jumps but controlable. He just got less ribbons because a pole or two would be knocked down on each run because he was a bit too eager to go! He never refused a jump though, just needs a bit more experience. We both had a blast! Here he is on part of the training 3 dressage test: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwPAaFt6ZJ4&feature=youtu.be. He travels very easily, and can go through about anything (narrow doors, clutter, trucks and tractors, holes dug in the courtyard, steps, water, showers...).
This horse was rescued with foundered feet two years ago and is now thriving and obviously enjoying life, working. He does feel better if there is a barn to cuddle in with a minimum of room service. Turn outs are great, but life in the wild is deffinitely not his cup of tea!
Possibility to keep him under full time or occasional training, or getting some guidance with lessons (near Northfield MN).
The price of this horse in only going to go up as he is improving everyday. After a few training shows this spring to get his confidence up, he is going to go close to $10,000 if not more depending on his results. Yo Af has a huge potential and even though he is not very big himself, with the confidence he has aquired recently over jumps, it is obvious that he can go big. Same in dressage where his growing steadiness with hand contact is making his movements become more bold. Don't miss this opportunity to get a real professional looking horse at a very affordable price.
