Sadie is a 5 year old Welsh cross pony filly. She's 11 hands high and in good condition. She came to the rescue because she was a little too spoiled for her family to handle anymore. She was assigned as a project to one of our great interns and has progressed so much in her training. Now that she has a job, she has done so well. She is well broke to ride, better than green broke. She rides inside and outside. She trail rides and isn't spooky. She navigates steep, slippery, hills, will be the first one to cross water--she's crossed water up to her belly! She will go anywhere in the line but will often lead, and keeps up with the big horses at a walk.
She does have a bit of a pony mare attitude which is why she is not a kid's pony. Because of her history, she needs a strong leader of an owner. She could be a great partner for an older kid/young teen who was horse saavy and was ready for a dynamic, strong pony. She'd be excellent for an upper level pony clubber who wanted 1 horse to game and event. Sadie has had an intermediate kid on her and rode great for the kid, so she might be ok for occasional rides under an experienced person's supervision. With some age on her, like a few years down the road, with very consistent handling that doesn't let her get away with anything, I'm sure she could be one of the great kid's ponies, just not now.
