Kera is a 13-year-old purebred Trakehner mare. She came to us pregnant and foaled out a huge colt in Spring of 2012. Her baby has been adopted and Kera is looking for a home. We do not allow breeding of horses that are adopted from us, and there is no reason why Kera can't start her own career now that her baby making days are done. She is a beautiful dark bay mare with good conformation and a friendly, loving personality. She appears to be completely sound although she hasn't been started under saddle yet, there's no obstacle other than our trainers are currently working on other horses. She's fairly calm and very used to being handled so it won't be difficult to start under under saddle at all.
In February 2013, Kera went to a foster home where she is getting daily attention. Her foster family has been putting saddles and bridles on her as well as working her on a lunge line and they believe she has been ridden in the past. They hope to get on her soon and evaluate her undersaddle. Kera may just need a refresher course and could be ready to go to some shows mid summer!
We only adopt to a homes within a 3 hour radius of Champaign, Illinois and we do require that you fill out an application before we can schedule an appointment. An application is not a commitment from you, but we have over 40 horses for adoption and this allows our volunteers to make the best use of their time!
