Twiggy is a 2011 Nurse Mare orphan. We have tons of pictures and you can read more about her rescue and her progress on our web site. She came in with horrible urine burns and a fungal infection that had taken most of the hair on her face and some spots on her body as well. She was our youngest nurse mare foal and not one we'd planned on, but she clearly wasn't doing well and we couldn't leave her behind! Twiggy's hair has grown in and she is a healthy and lovely young lady. Per our vet, these babies will not have any lasting health issues after their rough start. Twiggy is halter-broke and picks up her feet. As Twiggy grew, it became pretty clear that Twiggy is probably foundation quarter horse bred and will have the strong and stocky build to do any kind of a job.
We are an equine rescue--please go to our website to learn more about our adoption policies and procedures. If you are under 18, please have a parent contact us. You must be at least 21 to adopt a horse.
We only adopt to a homes within a 3 hour radius of Champaign, Illinois and we do require that you fill out an application before we can schedule an appointment. An application is not a commitment from you, but we have over 40 horses for adoption and this allows our volunteers to make the best use of their time!
