Truly a 7-9 years old flea-bitten grey mare, Arab/Appaloosa mix. She is a stocky girl, approximately 15.0h. She takes time to get to know you and trust you. She is greenbroke to the saddle, has been ridden frequently bareback, handles trail riding well and has done a moderate amount of that. If you are familiar with Parelli, I would assess her as being a "Right Brain Introvert", meaning that she is more laid-back, but not particularly confident by nature. She is not spooky overall, but will require a confident handler/rider, so that she can lean on their confidence. Her core need would be "comfort". It appears that she would easily bond with a person that was spending time with her each day, particularly if they were consistent and worked on building her confidence. Dakota said that she cantered under saddle the first time the other day with a new rider for a few strides on a trail ride. She has been ridden in a rope hackmore (with no curb chain), and she did wonderfully and was very light and responsive. We also had a spook from a peacock that flew into the arena unannounced. She lurched forward, but I was able to recover her in 2 strides or so. He rode her for about an hour, and these were the only two real incidents that they had. He was happy with these results, especially based on the fact that shes had so few rides at that time. On the ground, she leads well, lunges, picks up her feet, allows touch all over, fly sprays, ties, loads in a trailer, and bathes.
